FRANK, FUNNY, AND CAUSTICALLY UN-SELF-PITYING”— PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY

STORM LARGE PERFORMS WITH WORLD-CLASS SYMPHONIES AND HARD CORE ROCK BANDS…AND SHE’S WRITTEN A BOOK WORTHY OF BOTH AUDIENCES. IF GOOD WRITING IS ABOUT TAKING CHANCES AND PUSHING READERS TO THE EDGE, THEN THIS IS A CHART BUSTER… AS SHE TAKES US ON A WILD AND SOMETIMES PAINFUL RIDE INTO HER WORLD OF CRAZY.“

LARRY COLTON, AUTHOR OF GOAT BROTHERS, COUNTING COUP AND NO ORDINARY JOES

New York, NY – Storm Large: Multi-talented musician, performer, playwright and now author — the Portland, OR native is set to release her debut memoir, “Crazy Enough,” on Free Press (Simon & Schuster) on January 10, 2012.

“Crazy Enough” chronicles the author’s experience coming-of-age as the youngest child barreling through life under the care of a mentally-ill mother and a family on brink of implosion. Beginning in the author’s childhood filled with conflict and confusion over her mother’s constant emotional instability and stints in and out of medical facilities, the story follows Large’s struggle with her mother’s condition, her rejection and fear of ending up like her mother, chasing her own demons through drug abuse and “hypersexuality” and her ultimate redemption through forgiveness, humor and a career in music. Large describes the tome as, “Sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll as a cure for insanity.”

The story is edgy, gritty, fearless and leaves little to the imagination as Large takes us on a no holds barred journey through her formative years and into adulthood rebelling against what she believes to be her unavoidable fate: that of her mother’s. The story begins with her youth in Massachusetts and takes the reader to New York City where she earned her Associates Degree from the American Academy of the Dramatic Arts, to an awakening in San Francisco where she discovered performing music as her savior and ultimately to Portland, where she made a name for herself, continued to play rock and roll and a full circle back into the theater where she created and performed her one woman show “Crazy Enough” – from which this memoir was born.

As Large explains it, “Crazy Enough” is “a story about losing your mind and finding yourself. A love song to the lonely, left out and messed up kid in all of us.”
